Lazy Days of Summer

It's been a bit of a strange mix of weather so far this summer, but I rather like it. Some really hot days, some cool and rain mixed in for good measure, thank goodness. I really feel for the cats on the warm days, especially Max as his coat is quite a bit thicker than Maggies'. I tend to keep them in when the mercury reaches into the 30s. Max is defintely not shy about letting it all hang out on the hot days as in the pics below. He'll lay sprawled out like this for literally hours.

'Snug as a Bug in a Rug'

One thing that's kind of neat is when we see one of the cats grooming the backs of their ears with a paw. They first lick their paw and then slide it over the back of an ear. We know we're in for some precipitation when we see the cats do this weather-proofing ritual in advance. As I was taking these pictures, Maggie was giving her ears a good going over. So, we figure that sometime between now and tomorrow it's going to rain. Kind of neat having two felines that can forecast the weather.

  1. That's really interesting how they forecast the weather for you. Animals are so smart... especially cats!

I'm also writing to you as a fellow cat lover who is trying to spread the word about a photo contest on Lifetime TV's website. More details are here:

Basically, you can just submit a picture of your favorite feline for the chance to win everything from a one-year supply of cat food to a flat-screen TV.

Thanks so much and have a wonderful day!

I look forward to reading more of your posts about M&M.
